Applying MAPE-K control loops for adaptive workflow management in smart factories

چکیده

Abstract Monitoring the state of currently running processes and reacting to ad-hoc situations during runtime is a key challenge in Business Process Management (BPM) . This especially case cyber-physical environments that are characterized by high context sensitivity. MAPE-K control loops widely used for self-management these describe four phases approaching this challenge: Monitor, Analyze, Plan, Execute. In paper, we present an architectural solution as well implementation proposals using adaptive workflow management smart factories. We use Complex Event Processing (CEP) techniques process execution states Workflow System (WfMS) monitoring phase. addition, apply automated planning resolve detected exceptional continue execution. The experimental evaluation with physical factory shows potential developed approach able detect failures IoT sensor data them autonomously near real time considerable results.

Feedback Control as MAPE-K Loop in Autonomic Computing

Computing systems are becoming more and more dynamically reconfigurable or adaptive, to be flexible w.r.t. their environment and to automate their administration. Autonomic computing proposes a general structure of feedback loop to take this into account. In this report, we are particularly interested in approaches where this feedback loop is considered as a case of control loop where technique...

Applying Active Concepts to WorkFlow Management

A workflow management system (WFMS) supports the design, execution and monitoring of in general long-lasting business processes that typically involve multiple activities and multiple collaborating persons. WFMSs originate from the office automation efforts in the late 1970s and early 1980s, and from the imaging-based systems in the 1980s, both of which aimed at automating office paper processi...

Market Adaptive Control Function Optimization in Continuous Cover Forest Management

Economically optimal management of a continuous cover forest is considered here. Initially, there is a large number of trees of different sizes and the forest may contain several species. We want to optimize the harvest decisions over time, using continuous cover forestry, which is denoted by CCF. We maximize our objective function, the expected present value, with consideration of stochastic p...

Adaptive Control Design for Hysteretic Smart Systems

Ferroelectric and ferromagnetic actuators are being considered for a range of industrial, aerospace, aeronautic and biomedical applications due to their unique transduction capabilities. However, they also exhibit hysteretic and nonlinear behavior that must be accommodated in models and control designs. If uncompensated, these effects can yield reduced system performance and, in the worst case,...

Smart Adaptive Learning Management Application

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), over a billion people, about 15% of the world’s population, have some form of disability [1]. The International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) define disability as an umbrella term for impairments, activity limitations and participation restrictions. Despite the huge number of disable people around the world, a UNESCO...
